Ellensburg High SchoolRSS feed for all messages.RE: Tumbleweeds...Well I'll be hog squabbled (whatever that means!) D-Morg yours is a very good point. At present it appears that none of our elected representitives are willing to go all out against Big Business and the future paychecks they may hold for them or relenquish their own publicly paid for healthcare which I gather it is structerd quite different from the private sector (its really quite good and inenexpensive for them) I would also like to point out that in my "other" forum topic I asked a simple yet what I beleive to be quite defining question on Initiatves: the point being that Corporate infiltration of our political parties leaves little room for the common joe/joesephine to have their voices heard and have change instated.
It seems to me that only a grassroots internet powerd (i.e. Facebook, Myspace, Twitterd ) agenda is the only way for us to have our collective voice heard---VIA the Initiave/Referenda process. Thats all I was really trying to say....really...just a simple thought on my part...just a small daydream...a lil sumpin oughta nuttin....blah blah blah

2010-01-01T21:29:57-04:00-1'RE: Tumbleweeds...Ok Ricky, lets rumble! Nobody's going to argue that the system needs to be fixed, but can you name one government agency that can run as efficiently and cost effective as a private buisness?? I didn't think so. How about working on tort refrom and opening up the state lines to make the insurance companies compete with each other before we just give up and sell our soles?

Is it better to have no healthcare Insurance (and if you did get cancer-lose all you have worked for to pay for the care) or is it better to have government provided healthcare?

We haven't received your registration yet and we're afraid you may ruin your perfect reunion attendance record. Plus, you may want to discuss your deep univere questions with some of your classmates face to face.

2009-07-11T17:52:33-04:00ALASKA IS COOL....RE: Does the Iniative and and Referenda system work on a national level? This is to deep I am apathetic to the course we are on. I cannot change it. I vote only for presidents they change things for "ME" and people just like me. My representives work for "ME" I just have to vote for them.
Corporations are making life better for the people of the United States. The "Dollar" can be "TO" strong--then nobody but us will buy U.S. auto's. We need to import more goods at cheaper prices that helps America grow stronger.
What happens if wheat corn and milk/cheese are not subsidized? Is using food products to make cars and trucks move an ethical question or a monetary one?
If we did'nt use oil for transportation what would those corporations do for money? How long will it be before we are charged for the water we drink? What if it is used for transportation could everyone afford it?
Is the reality of government an opaque film of big business?
HMO's make America stronger they help people. They are not just making money off hard working American's with high premiums. The denials of benefits and inefficient accounting are just glitches in an otherwise highley efficient and profitable corporation run by Americans just like you. Only their superiors make a little more than you and can pay for health care out of pocket if need be.
Can we hack away at useless programs in government that drain billions of tax dollars while employing or helping few American's.
Can States form majority votes together to change federal law's?

2009-07-11T12:59:33-04:00Does the Iniative and and Referenda system work on a national level?RE: Does the Iniative and and Referenda system work on a national level?Again, is it just a question of semantic's or just interp-retation of something that was written over 200 hundred years ago.
A question is; if you had the chance to alter the direction of our Republic (as you stated the people are not smart enough to govern themselves and in turn, would it be fair to conclude that the corporations that are running it now should be held to the same low standards) would it be worth weighing the context that document has taken in the last 40 years?
If it did change to improve things for the "people". How would you manage it? Thus keeping your structure free from decay(or corruption) over time?

2009-06-28T11:38:46-04:00Does the Iniative and and Referenda system work on a national level?RE: Does the Iniative and and Referenda system work on a national level?Believe it or not, Washington is quite lucky with it's Initiative and Referendum system, as there are 24 States where the people have no choice..only in who they elect.
On a National level, again, it's Congress that has the reigns on that one.
Kinda set up believing that the People cannot be trusted to govern themselves... alas, we are a "Republic" and not a true Democracy.

2009-06-27T19:48:40-04:00Does the Iniative and and Referenda system work on a national level?Does the Iniative and and Referenda system work on a national level? If we don't like some of our present set of laws that govern us on a national level. Are we able to use the Iniative and Referenda system at a national level or is it just at the state level? It would seem that the internet would be able to instigate change in a fairly rapid manner with the amount of votes that are only a finger tap away?
